Last Friday, December 12th 2025, my family and I had the displeasure of stopping at Lewiston Duty free on our way over the border. After using the bathroom we went inside the shop to potentially purchase something. We checked out the fragrances and chocolates whilst my mom looked at the liquors. We eventually decided not to get anything and proceeded to leave. On our way out after my group exited my mom and I was the last in line to exit. She passed through but the alarm beeped when I was going through. There were three persons standing at the counter one male and two females. I looked at them and indicated that I did not purchase anything the guy said that it was fine I could leave. Whilst walking to the car my mom asked me to purchase a bottle of wine that she saw. We then returned to the shop, the male attendant saw me enter as I was going the wrong way and he directed me to the correct entrance. I approached him and asked about the wine that my mom wanted but he advised that because we were going for a day trip it was not feasible to purchase alcohol. Again o my exit the alarm was triggered, he saw me enter and exit but his colleague approached me along with him to search my person. I was carrying a small tote bag that contained my make-up bag, some medications, keys, $US4000, $CDN1200 and a few small things. Imagine my shock to be asked to hand over my bag for inspection with the public looking even though I indicated that they were all my personal stuff as I did not make a purchase at the shop. After examination they found nothing that belonged to them or of interest. I am a professional in my right but was not feeling very well that day. If I did not have a minor in my group I would have called the cops to check my stuff for verification purposes. I am yet contemplating what course of action I should take for being unduly embarrassed and harassed at the Lewiston Duty Free shop. I believe that by looking a certain way bears an easier target for them to point fingers at.

Compared to last time I visited, the place has less options. Wish there was promotions and sales. However the restaurant was very clean and staff very helpful, especially the lady helping with the perfumes. They have some good chocolates.

FAKE PERFUMES Recently I bought Parfums de Marly’s Layton from this duty free but When i wear it don’t stay on my skin even for one hour which concerned me. So i checked it if its even real and it turns out to be fake. They scammed me for $432.

The Queenston Lewiston Duty Free store is always a convenient and enjoyable stop. While the parking lot layout feels a bit odd—some spaces are oversized while others are a little tight—the overall access is fine. Inside, the washrooms are well maintained and very clean, which is always appreciated during travel. The store itself is spacious, comfortable to browse, and offers a wide selection. I especially enjoy checking out their special editions of alcohol and liquor, which you don’t often find elsewhere. A reliable and pleasant duty-free experience every time.

Wide range of the typical duty free stuff one finds at the Canadian border. I personally prefer it to the one at the Niagara Falls Bridge (Peace Bridge)

The store help was great. They helped me find a good beer to bring back for my neighbor. And they also steered me towards some local cabaret Sauvignon.

So I would like to highlight an incident that happened to me on Friday Oct 11th. My family ( husband and daughter ) were crossing over to the US for a mini vacation and we stopped at the border to use the bathroom and get a snack. We proceeded to explore the Duty free shop , my husband and daughter wandered off the the snack area , I picked up a maple syrup for 12.99 and then proceeded to the bag/purse section where my eyes caught on a small black Steve Madden purse ( $60.00) , very cute and I look at it for all but 20 seconds and decided I wanted it . So I held it in my hand along with the maple syrup , not a second after I started to walk towards the sunglasses area a worker( blonde woman) rushes up to me, grabs the purse and proceeds to open it and goes “ let me take out the paper for you .” I was taken aback by this behaviour , not thinking anything of it , I calmly said “no please don’t , I would like that to be left in there .” She walks away over her other colleague who was over by the counter area and started talking and looking in my direction . I then REALIZED I was being profiled as a possible THIEF!!!! I felt very very uncomfortable at this point and no longer wanted to look at other things so I walked away to go to the check out line and the two workers walked behind me , starting at me to see what I was doing . So I explained to my husband how I was being judged by this worker and I know what’s she’s doing so he walks over to her and asks what’s the issue and she gave him a nasty glare and walked off. After I paid , I went over to her and showed her my receipt and told her what she did to me was not nice and politely asked her what caused her to react in that manner to me and I felt profiled . She claimed she didn’t do anything and literally ran off. WHILE I know , people do steal, what I would recommend is get some security or theft tags on your items and two ,TRAIN YOUR STAFF BETTER TO ACTUALLY PIN POINT POTENTIAL FOLKS THAT DO THESE THINGS. I WASNT dressed LIKE A BUM , I didn’t give off any sneaky energy so my only conclusion is she’s RACIST !!!!! The purse was $60 DOLLARS !!!!!!!!!!! DO BETTER WITH YOUR STAFF
